Jacob Hamilton is a Senior Associate who oversees day-to-day operations in Lovein Ribman, P.C.’s Austin office. With a focus on construction defect claims, mechanic’s lien perfection, enforcement, and removal, contract disputes, contract drafting and negotiating, and varied species of commercial disputes, his practice is distinguished by a personal commitment to excellence and passion for obtaining favorable outcomes for our clients. He not only possesses a commitment to the legal aspects of the practice, but as a first-generation attorney, he recognizes the esotericism of the legal field and strives to make a foreign and uncomfortable process as palatable as possible for our clients.
Mr. Hamilton is an established litigation attorney whose wealth of experience and knowledge far surpass the typical trajectory for attorneys of his vintage. Rooted in his early-age involvement with the family construction business based in New Orleans, Louisiana, his background in the industry provides him with valuable insights into the intricacies of the field. In that regard, the firsthand experience that laid the foundation for his legal career in the construction and real estate arena originated when he lent a helping hand restoring homes after Hurricane Katrina. From summers in high school and college to post-graduation work, Mr. Hamilton’s days wearing a tool belt ultimately led to him earning licensure in commercial and residential construction issued by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors before attending law school.
A proud graduate of Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!), Mr. Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in international politics and law. He went on to obtain his law degree from Tulane University Law School, and furthered his legal education and gained valuable interdisciplinary experience through clerkships with Stag Liuzza, a renowned plaintiff-oriented environmental firm, and the Jefferson Parish District Attorneys’ Office, and a study-abroad program at Humboldt-Universtät zu Berlin where he earned certificates in mediation and dispute resolution.
Mr. Hamilton is licensed to practice law in Texas and Louisiana and has effectively served clients in numerous regions throughout both jurisdictions. He prides himself in representing his clients’ best interest with strong, concise writing, refined during his tenure as the sports editor and a staff writer for LSU’s award-winning daily newspaper. Mr. Hamilton further relishes the opportunity to represent his clients’ interests at mediation, arbitration, and court hearings, consistently achieving favorable outcomes in each of these forums through informed and measured oral advocacy.
Apart from his legal career, Mr. Hamilton has a keen interest in WWII history, international travel, LSU athletics, the German language, and the Oxford comma.
